In the morning we went to Mama’s Church, which is Lutheran. It was very different compared to the Church that we went to last week. This service was very formal. There was singing, praying, and a long sermon. The service as a whole was very interesting because it was in Swahili. I also enjoyed the service because there were several kids there that we taught and hung out with from Poli Primary School. All in all it was an amazing experience.

After lunch we spilt into groups and had conversations with: China (the head mason), Mama Frankie (China’s wife and the tailor), Dr. Ndozi, Mama and Baba (our hosts), and Zawardi and Tumsifu (teenage girls). It was interesting to see what happened in their daily life. I spoke to China. He said that between working with Rustic Pathways he looks around the village to see if there is any unfinished work. When he finds something not finished or something that doesn’t look safe he will ask to finish or complete it. Usually the person he is asking gives him the job due to his work at the school giving the kids a safe place to eat.

After we did the conversations we walked up the road to a waterfall. Getting to the waterfall a little strenuous because we had to hike down a very steep decline that had a lot of loose leafs on it. After the steep zigzags we finally got to the waterfall. The waterfall fell into a small milky brown pond. I thought that the waterfall was beautiful. Then when we were leaving the hike out was very fun because when we reached the top everybody was bent over gasping for air.
