9/11 and more...

Today we went to the 9/11 Museum where we got to see the actual stairs that saved a lot of peoples lives as they evacuated the building. We also visited the various exhibitions. Most touching was visiting the many artifacts and personal accounts of that dreadful day. It was very emotional for many visitors, including us. Later we went outside to see the 9/11 Memorial, which sits on 8 of the 16 acres occupied by the original twin towers of the World Trade Center. This memorial honors the lives of those who were lost. All the names of those who died in the terrorist attacks in 1993 and 2001 are inscribed here. After our visit here, we ate lunch at Grand Central Station, where we found the famous Magnolia Bakery and got a cheesecake for our dessert that evening. It is here that we also tried the whispering arch to see if it really works. Two people stand in diagonal corners of the archway and whisper sweet nothings to each other. Surprisingly from across the way and amidst the volume of a train station hub, they hear each other's words clearly! Later we went to Radio City Music Hall for a grand tour, and not only did we have the opportunity to meet with a Rockette and have a photo opportunity with her, but we got to go on stage!! We even got to try the hand drying machine in the restroom that works by using a foot pedal! Next, we went to Trump Tower to see what it's like to be in the building and see the different venues there. We went to Rockefeller Center, had dinner, and then did our own photos at Times Square!
